Speaker: Dr Kaushik Paul
BDS, MFDS(RCS Edin), MJDF(RCS Eng), MDTFEd
DipConSed(NCL), Cert MOS (FGDP(UK), MSc Oral Surgery(UCLAN).
Kaushik is a General Dental Practitioner in the Midland and London areas.
He is the clinical lead for his practice for the past 10 years and has been a Foundation Dentist Trainer in general practice. He also works part time at the Birmingham Dental Hospital as Speciality Dentist in Oral Surgery and is a Clinical Lecturer in Oral Surgery at the School of Dental Sciences, University of Birmingham since 2008. In these roles, he is actively involved in the delivery of general dental services along with Minor Oral Surgery services within the hospital under local anaesthetic and sedation.
Kaushik is actively involved in teaching, assessments, career planning and supporting undergraduate teaching and recruitment within the Dental school and in the training of DF1, DCT and other Dental and DCP colleagues especially in oral surgery within the region. He has been the Divisional MJDF tutor for the West Midland division of the FGDP until last year and is now on the advisory board for the MFDS examination with the RCS Edinburgh.
Aim: To provide the general dental practitioner with an update in Oral Surgery.
Objectives:
- To review the principles of simple exodontia and the use of elevators.
- To assess, investigate and treat suitable Minor Oral surgical procedures.
- This course includes a review of current literature and practical application of procedures.
- This course provides GDP’s with strategies and techniques to identify, diagnose and manage most commonly occurring oral surgery dilemmas in a GDP setting.
Learning Outcomes:
- Delegates will be able to assess and treatment plan most routine surgical procedures in GDP
- Review commonly occurring complications in oral surgery
- Plan their oral surgery treatment plan appropriately
- Be able to become more confident in the principles of simple exodontia and use of elevators.
- Delegates will have the opportunity to practice suturing techniques.
