The speaker is Dr Andrew Bennet, a Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. He qualified as a Doctor in 2013 and has been working in Emergency Medicine for the last 4 years. He has a passion for improving outcomes for patients with Sepsis and has been instrumental in improving the screening and treatment of patients at University Hospitals North Midlands NHS Trust. Andrew works with the UK Sepsis Trust as a Volunteer Speaker educating healthcare professionals about Sepsis.

 

Aim: The aim of this course is to ensure delegates have a basic understanding on to how to manage sepsis, and conduct good patient care.

Objectives:

Learners will be able to:

  • Recognise the scale and impact of sepsis within the UK
  • Identify key features that should alert the clinician to the possibility of sepsis in a patient with infection
  • Recall the key signs of sepsis

Learning Outcomes:

The learner understands:

  • The ways sepsis can present in care setting
  • The signs and symptoms of sepsis
  • The importance of a robust procedure
